Everything but this was GREAT. The tour includes hotel pick up, but the driver was late coming for us at our hotel, so we were the last ones to get on a full bus. There were places across the back with room for three adults, but they told us that we had to sit there. The people already there were quite put out. You might be able to put five children in those seats, but the five of us adults were uncomfortable every second on the long ride down to Sorrento.
I felt that there was to much wasted time on the trip. We spent the morning on the bus touring the port of Naples which was unnecessary. I would have like to have gone to Pompeii first and then to the museum in Naples afterwords. Also the hotel in Sorrento was nice, since we took the trip in the winter they did not take us to Capri. They said that we could hire a guide for 150 more dollars. I don't understand why they couldn't have taken us on the ferry that was running. We did not feel we had time to go on our own. That was very disappointing. I will not book with this tour group again. The guides were all very nice and knowledgeable.
The pick-up process was somewhat unorganized. The bus driver and tour director were not very helpful with the luggage. The bus ride to Naples was uneventful? The restaurant we stopped at for lunch was one of the worst restaurants Ive ever been to. The meal was supposed to be hot but it was cold. The sauce on the beef had congealed and was very unappetizing. Most of the food was not edible. The ride through Naples was interesting and the tour of Pompeii was wonderful. Our hotel in Sorrento was fabulous. The view was besutiful. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the hotel.
The two days with Carrani tours was just wonderful.
Extremely well organized and a very smooth sail.
The way they manage with people who have one, two , three or more days trips is just amazing.
The one negative comment was the lunch on the first day: very poor. because it was so poor we ate lunch on the second day before the lunch that was included with the tour.
To our amazement, this lunch, in Anna Capri was just wonderful.
The hotel in Sorento, Imperial Hotel Tramontano was just amazing. yes, we paid a bit extra but we deffinitly got our money worth, an incredible beautiful hotel, the food, the room, just everything.
No comment about Pompeii, Capri, Sorrento: these were our choices, just beautiful and powerful.
We highly recommend this trip, it was just wonderful, Thanks
The guides and transportation were well organized and we got to see the sights- including the blue grotto. However, the hotel was substandard. They charged extra for wifi in our room- in 2017! The food was terrible. The lunch was worse than airplane food and the dinner at the hotel was like a frozen dinner. I expected better for the price. We are in Italy- a gastronomical paradise and to be fed like that was shameful.
Not the greatest tour. 1st day was mostly sitting in a bus. Pompeii was great on the 1st day, but all the driving in the bus was a bit much. Tour started with local pickup from my hotel which was great at 6:45 am. Bus actually left Rome around 7:40. My tour guide Juan Carlos on the first day was the worst. He was not friendly and was not open to answering questions. About an hour and 15 minutes after we left Rome, there was a pitstop at an overpriced cafe/restaurant/hotel. We got 30 minutes to use the restroom and very quickly buy something to eat and eat it, as you cannot eat on the bus. After that, we continued on to Naples. We stopped in Naples for 10 minutes to take pictures by a nice ocean view of the city area. In my opinion, this was a pointless stop that just made the bus ride that much longer to get to Pompeii. After that we finally arrived at our lunch spot, very hungry. This place served food that was just terrible. Reminded me of nasty cafeteria food. All the wait staff were very rude. See my picture of Desert. It is supposed to be Tiramisu. Instead it was one lady finger with something whipped on top. We spent a total of about an hour and a half at this lunch place. Finally after getting through lunch we left for Pompeii!!! We arrived at Pompeii around 2:30ish. Finally around 3 o'clock the tour of Pompeii started after being pushed through a jewelry store like cattle so we could use the restrooms inside. Pompeii tour lasted about 2 hours and was awesome! Different tour guide Roberta was great for Pompeii. After Pompeii, it was another endless bus ride to our hotel in Sorrento. We actually left around 5:15 from Pompeii and didn't arrive to our hotel till about 7:15-7:30!!!! Next day started at around 10am. Capri was nice even though we didn't get to do the blue grotto. My tour guide Simona or Sascha was fantastic. We still took a boat ride to the blue grotto, but didn't get to go in it. After that, we were driven along the mama mia road and then had some free time to explore before lunch. Lunch wasn't that great again. After lunch we were driven back down for some more free time before meeting to be taken back to mainland Rome at 5pm. We arrived in Naples from Capri by boat, then came another endless bus ride back to Rome. There was another stop for dinner at the same exact overpriced rest stop from the beginning of this whole trip. This time they only allowed us 20 minutes for restroom and food break. Then it was back on the bus to go to Rome. I didn't get dropped of to my hotel until about 9:30-9:40. I only recommend this trip if you can put up with long bus rides and terrible included food. Other than that, the trip was pretty good. I have some great stories to tell my family about how messed up parts of this trip were. LOL.
